การใช้ Conjunction Page 33 (Reading) 1. Although คือคำว่า "ถึงแม้ว่า" ในแบบที่เป็น Formal
Though คือคำว่า Although ในแบบสั้นๆ (ตัด Al ออกนั่นเอง) เป็นรูป Informal
Even though นั้นมีความหมายว่า "ถึงแม้ว่า" แต่จะดูหนักแน่นกว่า เพราะมากจาก Even + Though (คำว่า Even มาเน้นคำว่า though)
3. furthermore = ยิ่งกว่านั้น ยัง…อีกด้วย
4. besides = นอกจากนั้นยัง…
5. as a result ซึ่งคำนี้จะเป็นคำเชื่อมแปลว่าดังนั้น ก็ต้องมีประโยคเหตุมาก่อน ตามด้วยดังนั้น แล้วก็บอกผลลัพธ์
She is a good student. As a result, her parents are very happy.
As a result จึงมีความหมายเหมือนคำว่า so/ hence/therefore/thus

(ถึงแม้ว่าเขาจะไม่ได้เรียนเลย แต่เขาก็สอบผ่าน) ส่วน Although จะใช้กับกรณีที่เงื่อนไขเป็นไปในทางบวก (Positive) แต่ผลลัพธ์ที่ได้เป็นไปในทางลบ (Negative) เช่น :Although he studied very hard, he failed the examination. (ถึงแม้ว่าเขาจะเรียนอย่างหนัก แต่เขาก็สอบตก) |

| 6. despite กับ in spite of แปลว่า “ทั้งๆ ที่ “ เมื่อข้อความสองข้อความมีความหมายขัดแย้งกัน เรามักจะใช้ despite กับ in spite of นำหน้าวลีที่เป็นอนุประโยค เนื่องจาก despite กับ in spite of เป็นคำบุรพบทจึงต้องตามด้วยคำนาม หากจะตามด้วยคำกิริยาก็ต้องเปลี่ยนคำกิริยานั้นให้เป็น gerund หรือคำกิริยาในรูป ing เสียก่อน ตัวอย่างประโยคการใช้ despite กับ in spite of มีดังต่อไปนี้ค่ะDespite its difficulty, I pass the exam.
